The Strategic Adventures logo encompasses an image of the Baobab
tree or the Mbuyu tree in the Swahili language.
The Baobab is said to be one of the "World Trees", or Tree
of Life by many of the cultures on the African continent.
The Baobab tree has an enormous trunk with tapering
branches and can attain a maximum
height of 75 feet and a maximum diameter of 60 feet
around the trunk. It is able to survive long  periods
of time without water and is also one of the longest-lived
trees in the world, being
measured at over 2,000 years old. The Baobab is
highly regarded by African people because all of
its parts can be utilized.
The
many uses of the tree include grain storage, water
reservoirs, shelter, food, burial chambers, timber,
soap, fishnets, cords, sacks, clothing, rubber, glue,
necklaces, and medicine. In addition
to these uses, the tree serves as a meeting place
for many villages to discuss community matters, relate
the news of the
day, or tell
stories. In a similar way, the Baobab tree serves
as a metaphor for Strategic Adventures. It paints
a picture of high performing teams where each person
is deeply regarded and the
collective efforts
of the team help to maximize potential. The Baobab
tree also provides an image for how the experiences
created by Strategic Adventures
allow groups to come together, discuss matters of
importance, share stories, and apply learning.
